Topic: 6G Communication Helps Smart Cities

Time: (Monday), July 22, 2024, 9:00–10:00

Venue: 1F Lecture Hall, School of Computer, Electronics and Information

Abstract: In this presentation, the speaker will introduce key communication enabling technologies for the Artificial Intelligent Internet of Things (AIoT) in supporting smart cities, future research opportunities and challenges, and some thoughts beyond the technology itself. The presentation will be divided into three parts. Firstly, the speaker will outline the vision of smart cities, focusing particularly on the concept and application scenarios of AIoT in smart cities, and explore key 6G communication technologies necessary to realize these visions. The report will specifically emphasize four main research directions in Artificial Intelligent (AI)-assisted communications. Subsequently, the speaker will discuss advancing research on AI-assisted communication technologies within the context of smart cities, proposing several future research opportunities and addressing relevant challenges. These opportunities and challenges encompass not only the technology itself but also policy, ethics, and societal impacts. Finally, the speaker will conclude by summarizing the latest communication technologies for achieving smart cities and the future trends in this field. By attending this presentation, participants will have the opportunity to gain insights into the current status and future prospects of AIoT in supporting smart cities, along with the evolving trends in communication enabling technologies relevant to this domain.
