The School of Computer, Electronics and Information at Guangxi University is a college that combines science and engineering. Primarily cultivating advanced talents in disciplines such as computer science and technology, information security, network engineering, electronic information engineering, communication engineering, and artificial intelligence. Computer Science and Technology is selected as the Guangxi distinctive key discipline, and Software Engineering is selected as the Guangxi key discipline. There are various teaching and research platforms including the Guangxi Key Laboratory of Multimedia Communications and Network Technology, the Guangxi Engineering Research Center of Intelligent Digital Services Technology, the Guangxi Key Laboratory of Parallel and Distributed Computing and Intelligent Computing, the National High-Performance Computing Center Nanning Branch (Guangxi University High-Performance Computing Center), the Guangxi University Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, the Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Computer and Information Technology in Guangxi Higher Education Institutions, the Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Center for Computer and Information Technology in Guangxi Higher Education Institutions, the Guangxi Institute of Information Security Industry, the Guangxi Specialized Demonstrative Software College, and the Guangxi Network Security Talent Training Base.

Through construction and development, the school has established a multi-level educational system encompassing graduate education, undergraduate education, and adult education. Currently, undergraduate programs include Computer Science and Technology, Information Security, Electronic Information Engineering, and Communication Engineering. The academic master's degree programs recruit in the disciplines of Computer Science and Technology, and Information and Communication Engineering. The professional master's degree programs offer specializations in Electronic Information (including Computer Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Next-Generation Electronic Information Technology, and Communication Engineering). Guangxi University collaborates with other schools to jointly establish doctoral programs in three independent second-level disciplines: Computational Theory and Systems, Electrical Equipment and Intelligent Information Technology, and Bioinformatics. The Master's degree program in Computer Technology has been honored with the National Characteristic Engineering Education Project Area for Engineering Master's Graduate Education. The Computer Science and Technology was approved as an undergraduate major in the third batch of National Excellent Engineer Education Program in 2014, recognized as a national first-class undergraduate major construction site in 2019, accredited in 2022 by engineering education major certification, and approved in 2022 as a Guangxi Characteristic Demonstration Software College. The Information Security was approved as a provincial first-class undergraduate major construction site in 2021, designated as Guangxi Information Security Industry College in 2021, and approved as Guangxi's first batch of network security talent training base in 2022. The Electronic Information Engineering was approved as a national first-class undergraduate major construction site in 2022, and the Communication Engineering was approved as a national first-class undergraduate major construction site in 2020. Currently, the school has more than 2,600 students, including over 20 PhD students, over 800 master's students, over 1,600 undergraduate students, and more than 10 international students.

The school currently has 119 faculty members, including 21 professors, 12 PhD supervisors, 32 associate professors, 4 senior engineers or experimentalists, with 70 teachers holding PhD degrees. Among the faculty, there is 1 individual supported by the Ministry of Education's Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University, 3 individuals in the second level of the Guangxi New Century Ten, Hundred, Thousand Talents Project, 1 individual recognized as a Guangxi high-level talent, 1 Outstanding Young Scholar under the Guangxi Bagui Talents Program, 1 individual in the Guangxi Hundred Talents Program for Overseas High-Level Talents, 2 individuals in the Guangxi Universities Hundred Leading Young and Middle-aged Discipline Leaders Support Program, 4 individuals in Guangxi Universities Outstanding Talent Support Program, 1 individual in Guangxi Universities Teaching Excellence Award, 1 individual in Guangxi Outstanding Youth Fund Project Awardee, 1 individual in Baosteel Excellent Teacher Award, 1 individual in Guangxi Chief Technology Officer, and 1 individual in Guangxi Outstanding Expert.

The school has closely aligned itself with the major development strategies of the national and Guangxi economy, focusing on the needs of industrial development. It has emphasized basic research, application-driven basic research leading to applied research, technology development, and service provision. Key research and development areas include high-performance parallel computing, distributed computing and cloud computing, internet software, big data and data management, intelligent information processing, intelligent control and smart energy, bioinformatics and digital agriculture, network and information security, trusted software, database security, computer graphics and visualization, mobile multimedia communication, medical image processing, wireless networks and edge computing, Beidou satellite communication, and optical communication. These efforts have gradually formed technological strengths and research specialties oriented towards applications and interdisciplinary collaboration, resulting in a series of research achievements. Over the past five years, the school has undertaken more than 30 national research projects, over 40 provincial and ministerial-level research projects, and more than 200 other projects, with a total research funding exceeding 54 million RMB. They have published over 900 high-quality academic papers in international and domestic prestigious journals and conferences, including over 130 papers indexed in SCI Q1 or Q2 journals, and more than 360 papers indexed in SCI, EI, and ISTP databases. They have authored over 20 textbooks and monographs. Additionally, they have obtained more than 100 national invention patents, 5 utility model patents, and registered over 1300 computer software copyrights. The school has also been awarded 4 provincial and ministerial-level scientific and technological awards.

Over the past decade, the school has undertaken more than 40 projects as part of the New Century Guangxi Higher Education Teaching Reform Project. Over the past five years, it has received over 10 Guangxi Teaching Achievement Awards and Guangxi Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Achievement Awards. The school maintains high-quality student intake for both undergraduate and graduate programs, with a graduate employment rate consistently exceeding 90% and high employment quality. Graduates of the school are highly regarded by employers both domestically and internationally.
